Phew this might all seem a bit late but actually my feet have barely hit the ground since our very first snails presentation evening last Saturday. The evening celebrated the club and the people who’ve worked so hard to build it. We had awards for the winners of each of our championship divisions , most improved park runner, most champs points overall and of course our snail of the year.
The winners were:
Snail of the year 1st place – Shiela Ryder
Snail of the year 2nd place – Joanne Pollard
Snail of the year 3rd place – Dave Gee
M1 1st Place – Sean ‘Buster’ Suttle
M1 2nd Place – Jonathan Moon
M1 3rd Place – Kyle Spencer
F1 1st Place – Ellen Battye
F1 2nd Place – Anne Molloy
F1 3rd Place – Emma Suttle
M2 1st Place – Gary Taylor
M2 2nd Place – Daniel Priestman
M2 3rd Place – Rob Hick
F2 1st Place – Hannah Priestman
F2 2nd Place – Suzanne Fretwell
F2 3rd Place – Julie Browne and Adele Harris
F3 1st Place – Amanda Aveyard
F3 2nd Place – Caroline Lowery
F3 3rd Place – Nicola Brown
Most championship points overall – Daniel Priestman
Most improved parkrunner – Caroline Lowery
As runners we’re all used to seeing each other a little red in the face, sweaty and perhaps not at our best. But not on Saturday, all the girls looked glam and the boys looked dapper, there was even a special shout out to Ellen Battye’s bum.
The snails are always a sociable bunch but Saturday seemed even more so, there were toasts to friendships, real enthusiasm for the winners and of course a fair few of us stayed in Roxy’s until closing time.
A special thanks to Jodie Smith and Jonathan Moon who worked hard to organise the event. I for one can’t wait for next years.
If you want to get involved check out the ‘club championships’ page to find out more. I’m sure there’ll be some more social events soon.
