Over 30 snails made their way to the Newcastle for this year’s Great North Run. The biggest turnout we’ve had at the event and along with our fantastic supporters, friends and family we made sure we had a big impact on the day.
If you’ve never run the GNR before it’s a linear route from Gateshead to South Shields which means that organising where to park, where to stay and how to get too and from the start/finish lines can be a bit of a nightmare. However with the snails being as organised as ever and providing a coach for everyone it made the whole thing run a lot smoother.
It was a great day (if a little hot) but there were plenty of water stations along the route and the fantastic supporters along the route were handing out jelly babies, oranges, ice pops and even little cups of beer. Which certainly helped us get to the finish line.
The busy route did hinder some PB attempts but the flat, net-descent of the route helped others reach their goals and no-one went home too unhappy.
It’ll be fantastic to get even more runners there next year and it certainly got the London Marathon fever started!
